Whereas the strength and hence, safety of traditional scaffolding depends on the skill of the person who erects it, modular scaffolding joins are of a known engineering quality and remain strong and safe no matter who erects them. Modular scaffolding uses one of several particular joining systems that require only a hammer to fix them in place, rather than clamps and bolts of various kinds. These joining systems make modular scaffolding much quicker and easier to install than its traditional counterpart.
Modules can be packed and transported in containers that hold all the components necessary for the erection of each module. Since everything is at hand, the modules can be erected quickly without waiting around for someone who knows where all the components have been stored to come along and lay it all out. While a certain small number of pipes and couplers are still used with modular scaffolding, their use is kept to a minimum, so facilitating the process of erection.
